Keeshond

History
Developed in the Netherlands as a watchdog and companion on canal barges, and named after an eighteenth-century political figure whose supporters adopted the dog as an emblem.
Appearance
A compact, plush-coated Spitz-type dog with a fox-like face, curled tail and distinctive 'spectacles' marking around the eyes.
Exercise and activity
About an hour of daily walking and play; the breed enjoys company more than intense athletic work.
Care and grooming
Brush two to three times weekly, more during the twice-yearly heavy coat blow, and expect substantial loose hair around the home.
