History
Swedish farm dog for over a thousand years; nearly extinct by 1942 and saved by a handful of dedicated breeders.
Appearance
Long-bodied, low-set dog with a wolf-grey coat, pricked ears and a natural bob or long tail.
Exercise and activity
An hour-plus daily with herding-style games; surprisingly athletic.
Care and grooming
Easy coat; weekly brushing, more when shedding.
