History
Developed in the West Country of England in the nineteenth century, primarily to drive sheep and cattle to market.
Appearance
A large, profusely coated dog usually grey or blue with white markings, with a coat so thick over the eyes that many are trimmed for visibility.
Exercise and activity
Around an hour daily of walking and play; the breed is more of a steady mover than a high-intensity athlete.
Care and grooming
The coat needs brushing to the skin most days to prevent matting, and full grooming sessions typically take well over an hour; many owners choose a shorter clip to make upkeep manageable.
