Step by step

  1. Step 1

    Start somewhere quiet

    Choose a calm outdoor bench or quiet café corner.

  2. Step 2

    Place the mat

    Reward the dog for lying on it; offer a chew.

  3. Step 3

    Reward calm

    Drop treats between the paws while the dog is relaxed.

  4. Step 4

    Leave before stress builds

    End sessions while the dog is still calm.

Troubleshooting

  • Panting, scanning or refusing food means the place is too busy right now.
