Step by step

  1. Step 1

    Make it obvious

    Place food on the floor in plain sight while the animal watches, and let them find it.

  2. Step 2

    Add cover

    Hide portions under a towel or in an open box so the nose does the work.

  3. Step 3

    Spread the search

    Distribute several hidden portions around one room and let the animal work at their own pace.

  4. Step 4

    Finish clearly

    Collect any uneaten food and end the game while interest is still high.

Troubleshooting

  • Use stronger-smelling food if the animal gives up quickly.
  • Keep hides at floor level for stiff or older animals.
