What matters
- Adjustable difficulty
- Animals give up on puzzles that are too hard at the first attempt.
- Material safety
- Hard plastics crack and splinter; check for swallowable parts on every use.
- Cleanability
- Anything holding wet food must be dishwasher-safe or it grows bacteria.
- Species-appropriate action
- Dogs like licking and rolling, cats like batting and hunting, parrots like shredding and unwrapping.
- Durability
- Power chewers need rubber rated for their jaw strength.

Best for: Dogs left alone for short periods, and crate training
Watch out: Count the calories inside as part of the daily ration
